ASB case study
In 2006, CSS were called in by a South East London housing association to gather evidence against a gang of youths who had been causing misery to a community with their persistent vandalism and graffiti attacks. This estate had been a prevalent crime hot spot for over 10 years with the local police and council powerless to act without supportive evidence, none of which was forthcoming from a fearful community.
After a three-week covert CCTV operation, CSS produced evidence that resulted in over 20 ASB and Eviction Orders being served which had the desired effect of dispersing and dismantling a collective of problem families. Harmony was restored to the estate supported with a network of very visible CCTV cameras installed by CSS and a community pop-in centre established by the housing association.
The total cost of the surveillance operation was £2500.
